Just to note this is Liberty Cablevision that offers its services in metropolitan, part of the north, south and eastern areas of Puerto Rico, not refering to others companies of the same name.

(This is based on my exprience, so might be quite biased) I changed from Claro (previously known as Dlink) to Liberty Cablevision after an incident where a garbage truck ripped the internet cable apart in 2014. I got no internet about 1 month due to this.

My mom called Claro's Costumer Service many times and it came 1 month later to repair it, but it was too late: we changed from Claro to Liberty. I'm going to say that their services are better than Claro but is not the best either. We started with 5mbps of download / 1mpbs of upload and as time passes, they started to increase the prices as well as the speeds. Now we have 10mpbs of download / 1 mpbs of upload.

Also the modems they offer are suspectible to damage (like power outage, for example) so we need to change it frequently. They're have been a few internet outages but they have been fixed in less than 1 day. Also have been days where the internet was slow, especially during the day. Overwall, the service is better than Claro, but this were things changed by the arrival of hurricane Maria in September 20th, 2017.

By the time we got the eletricity back in November 30, 2017 (2 months without power), we reported that we have power from the AEE (PREPA in english). We have been notified but has been 1 month without internet service so far. The linemen came once to repaired part of the damaged cable but that's it. Counting with the no-power days, is have been almost 4 months without high-broadband internet...

Doing my academic work gotten harder, as well as my brothers and my mom's need to pay off the bills, we relied on wireless internet heavily, which is really slow. I cannot do tetering due to T-Mobile's charge to pay for just using my mobile hotspot...

I do not know what's taking them so long to restore the internet, when other ISPs do it much faster job on repairing it... Offering free hotspots is not enough also, as I use internet everyday, especially for gaming.

Considering my age at the time and my juvenile mentality, I did think that way and thought I needed to satisfy my entertainment needs of being connected to my online friends I encounter with at all moments (also had connection with) and may I was a bit braggish and maybe even immature in that part for living such an lonely life. People my age and with similar interests to might might relate to that.

But in a world where everything is being digitalized to the new world, is more necessary than before but is just a tool still. Of course, I do know that internet service and cable tv are not necessary to living as if I depended on it or had any kind of internet addiction. My statement sounded like that. Would be still be good if I got rid of my online friends and everything I do that aren't productive, gaming and social media is one of them.

Then, I would not think of internet as much if I don't get involved with any of my free time activities I did. I was doing an review on a company that offers those services that we might not actually need in order to live an satisfying life. Is not an electric power company. Electricity more important than internet service or TV.

Could be lived without it, or even I can have very terrible internet speed to only do the essentials (taking out the unproductive stuff in mind) but repeating all of that could be done without it. If for a hurricane, I would wait for electricity first than having internet service.

I began to become sympathetic towards you until I read the final line of your complaint : "especially for gaming".

How fortunate you are ever having service available at all considering your location.

Gaming does not qualify as a necessity of life.

Nor does cable TV or internet service.

Stop whining and be glad you don't have cholera and do have electricity.
